Job Title:Pool Operations Manager
Reports to: General Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary: Oversees the quality and success of Goldfish Swim School. This encompasses all daily operations including staffing, safety, Pool Operations, swim lesson quality, customer service, cash management and workplace employee activities. Oversees the quality and success of all Pool Operations, including the management of the Deck Supervising staff, Golden Teachers and Swim Instructors, as well as the on-deck staff, maintenance of pool environment and interaction with students and parents. Is an expert of on all levels of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum, and demonstrates thorough knowledge of GSS management policies and practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Helps the General Manager and department managers fulfill the daily tasks.
  2. Provides leadership, discipline and constructive feedback to Lead Deck Supervisors, Deck Supervisors, Instructors and Deck Teachers to ensure quality delivery of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
  3. Manages the staff of GSS to ensure high productivity, excellent performance and positive employee satisfaction.
  4. Gains knowledge and experience in all technology platforms to achieve a high level of competence in bookings, class scheduling, reporting and administrative functions.
  5. Gains a high level of knowledge and experience in the GSS Pool Operations to ensure understanding and satisfaction of Goldfish members.
  6. Gains a high level of knowledge and experience in the GSS pump room operations necessary to maintain a safe and sanitary swim environment and troubleshoot as necessary.
  7. Conducts weekly audits of the Deck Supervisor Rosters, Deck Supervisor Notes, Training Logs, Pump Room Checklist, Cleaning Checklist and Class Schedule.
  8. Evaluates efficiency of class schedule by merging classes, closing classes, and creating new classes as needed, and ensuring all classes are accurate in scheduling software
  9. Interacts with the Lead DSs, Deck Supervisors, Golden Teachers and wet side staff on issues related to class scheduling, student progress, customer service and employee performance and training.
  10. Floats in the water at least 1 shift a week to ensure quality standards are being met.
  11. Trains, oversees and provides ongoing development of the aquatics department to provide superior swim instruction to the students of GSS
  12. Maintains current certifications and stays up-to-date professionally on the aquatics and management field.
  13. Under direction of the General Manager, leads the daily operations as a MOD to ensure the school is running according to GSS standard operating procedures.
  14. Creates daily shift notes and sends them to AGMs and GM.
Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED is required. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, and/or childcare provider required. Two or more years as a swimming instructor is preferred. Minimum experience of 6 months to 1 year in leadership role.
Certificates and Licenses: Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and AED required. Certified Pool Operator certification and Lifeguard Instructor certification highly recommended.
Work Environment: While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate.
