This position is for at the Graham Aquatic Center.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Desk Attendant maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all and responds to member and guest needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists lifeguards in enforcing pool rules as requested, call for assistance in any emergency
- Reports any complaints to the Pool Manager on duty and the Aquatic Director
- Keeps a friendly and warm atmosphere for all members and guests
- Keeps pool area neat - put all equipment in their proper storage areas
- Keeps bathrooms clean - mops floors, empties trash receptacles, etc.
- Performs general pool maintenance/cleaning when requested
- Attends periodic staff meetings and in-service training when requested by the Director
- Assists Pool Manager on duty and Aquatic Director when requested

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 14 years old
- Ability to work calmly under all conditions

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility
- Remain alert with no lapses of consciousness
- See and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
- May regularly work in an outside environment and exposed to the elements
- Employee must be able to communicate effectively by speaking and listening in a loud environment
