Summary of Position:
The Policy Associate will play a key role in advancing CPC’s unique perspective on key local, state and federal policy priorities and maintaining our role as an industry leader in affordable housing. This person will work closely with the Senior Vice President of Policy and Government Affairs and the Office of the CEO to develop key relationships with elected representatives and government agency leaders. They will provide research, data analysis, and policy recommendations to support CPC’s policy and advocacy efforts.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Work as an integral member of the Office of the CEO to develop policy recommendations, and identify opportunities and strategies to ensure CPC’s goals are effectively communicated to government partners and elected officials
- Represent CPC at meetings of elected officials, public hearings, trade group discussions, and other events
- Perform qualitative and quantitative research in connection with Federal housing initiatives, community development, and economic development to assess the impact on CPC’s business and to evaluate CPC’s positions
- Project manage and draft written testimony, public comment submissions, policy briefs, and support priority policy initiatives.
- Develop meeting agendas, presentations, and briefing documents
- Research industry trends and prepare summaries and reports to support CPC’s business objectives. Synthesize research and existing policy, as needed
- Perform other administrative duties, as required.
Skills and Experience:
- BA required. Advanced degree, or equivalent experience, in Real Estate, Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field strongly preferred
- 3-5 years’ professional experience in Affordable Housing, Community Development or Real Estate required. Must include some policy, intergovernmental, or advocacy experience at the federal level
- Experience in sustainability programs a plus
- Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Must be detail and deadline oriented
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, team environment.
This is a full-time, hybrid role where you will work from the Manhattan office two – three days a week. The salary range is $60,000 – $75,000, dependent on experience.
