Job Description
The Alcester Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Police Officer. Applications will be accepted until positions are filled.

Essential Duties, Requirements, and Responsibilities:
• Performs Law-Enforcement Duties involving the protection of life and property
• The enforcement of City Ordinances and State Laws
• Maintain order and Investigation of Crimes
• Open to working weekends, nights, and holidays
• Ability to completing and maintaining accurate records and reports
• Ability to tactfully communicate with others
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other agencies, and the public
• Work directly with the Chief of Police to complete required training, maintenance, and records
• Residency requirement within 15 miles of city limits
• Willingness to take on call time
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Age 21 at the time of hiring
• Possess a Valid Driver’s License
• Certified Officer preferred but not required
• Currently a certified officer or must be able to meet the standards for certification as a law enforcement officer in South Dakota as required by the Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Training Commission
