About the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities – Tiffin Developmental Center

The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) is a trauma informed care agency. We offer a state-wide system of supportive services that focus on ensuring health and safety, supporting access to community participation and increasing opportunities for meaningful employment. Tiffin Developmental Center is located in the northwest region of Ohio and is home to both adults and youth with developmental disabilities.

Example duties of a Police Officer 2:

Non traditional law enforcement position - the focus is security and safety of the campus.

  • Conducting fire drills
  • Checking fire extinguishers and other safety equipment
  • Involvement in emergency preparedness initiatives
  • Inspecting buildings and fleet vehicles for safety concerns
  • Helping plan and participating in special events
  • Contact with local law enforcement for non resident related issues

Qualifications


Possession of certificate having successfully completed approved basic peace officer training program or completion of 20 yrs. active duty as peace officer per Section 109.78(D) of Ohio revised code; valid driver's license. Probationary period is one year.

The final candidate selected for the position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to the appointment to test for illegal drug use. An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment.

Expected hours of work are 1PM to 9PM with flexibility to cover drills on all shifts. A $1.25 shift differential is paid for any hours worked between 5PM and 6AM.

The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. Rule 5123-2-02 “Background Investigations for Employment,” outlines disqualifying offenses that will preclude an applicant from being hired by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.
