In this position, you will operate City motor vehicles in support of the Quartermaster Unit operations for Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

Essential Job Functions- the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:
- Maintain daily contact with CSPD divisional mechanic to determine specific vehicles moves for repairs
- Transport CSPD vehicles and equipment (such as, radios, light bars, tasers, etc.) to and from multiple police and City maintenance facilities and contracted vendors for service and repair
- Monitor vehicle preventive maintenance schedules provided by the City fleet services contractor to ensure equipment is serviced by mechanics; work with Police Division mechanics to verify vehicles are delivered as needed
- Schedule the in-service fielding of new vehicles at contracted maintenance locations, the City Body/Radio Shops, dealerships, and equipment outfitters
- Schedule and remove department vehicles from service; drive retired vehicles from maintenance facilities and the City Radio Shop to the City Maintenance Facility
- Schedule warranty repair services at dealerships and equipment vendors
- Process, review, or complete administrative documents, daily transport logs, motor vehicle registrations, and employee involved accident reports
- Report and provide information to City Risk Management on all police vehicle accidents; monitor and coordinate all police vehicle accident repairs with other/at fault driver insurance companies and the City Body Shop
- Research and recommend standardized special equipment component menu's and cost estimates to outfit police cruisers, marked and unmarked, sworn, civilian, and volunteer vehicles
- Courier documents, correspondence, forms, supply items, and equipment to and from City, County, and CSPD facilities
- Maintain the CSPD vehicle database, QuartermasterOnQ (QMOnQ)
- Staff the Supply customer service counter and facility as required
Knowledge of:
- Programs used to track fleet inventory
- Modern office technology
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Pertinent state and local laws, rules, and regulations
- Proper English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Safely operate assigned vehicles and equipment
- Understand insurance laws and vehicle repairs
- Communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships
- A high school diploma or GED
- Two years of full-time experience in fleet vehicle maintenance, driving and associated record keeping
- Possess and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
- Be able to obtain within six months of hire, a valid, non-probationary Colorado Commercial Driver's License not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
- Pass a post-offer physical, which, in part, results in the issuance of a medical certificate for CDL purposes
- Five years of full-time experience in fleet driving
- Possess a valid, non-probationary Colorado Commercial Driver's License not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
The job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a polygraph examination, extensive background check, and other pre-employment assessments.

Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally and 10 pounds frequently and walking, sitting, or standing to a significant degree.

The City of Colorado Springs offers additional compensation depending on the position, area of assignment, and specific job assignments, including shift differential, pay differential, acting or lead, special assignment, hazard pay, longevity, cell phone allowance, uniform allowance, relocation, awards, standby, call out, compensatory time off, tuition, overtime, extra duty, incentive, holiday premium, proficiency, and vacation sell back.
