Osborn Engineering is seeking a Plumbing Designer/Engineer with 0 – 4 Years’ experiencefor our Orlando office locationwho will report tothe Manager of Plumbing. The ideal candidate would have working knowledge of Revit and Plumbing design in the Consulting Engineering or Sub-Contracting environment.
Position Responsibilities:
- Perform designs of plumbing and Performance based fire protection systems for building design under supervision of senior engineer.
- Calculate plumbing systems loads, layout and design piping.
- Design of drain, waste, vent, domestic hot and cold water, storm drainage, condensate drainage, natural gas, grease, and waste systems.
- Calculate requirements for ejector systems, domestic water booster systems, fixture unit loading, water pressure loss, and invert elevations/utility coordination.
- Prepare drawings for plumbing systems from schematic through construction document phases with the support of dedicated technical staff as needed.
- Assist in the preparation and editing of specifications relating to existing or new projects.
- Specify plumbing equipment such as pumps, domestic water heaters, and plumbing fixtures.
- Visit job site to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress. Site visits frequently require a physical walk-through of site.
- Review submittals and shop drawings for compliance of specifications and contract documents. Participate or lead value engineering sessions with Architectural and Engineering team.
- Knowledge of Plumbing Codes and Uniform Plumbing Codes, NFPA 54, National Fuel Gas Code, other relevant building codes, sustainability, green building rating systems, industry standards, and LEED compliance documentation.
- Additional Consideration for Candidates with experience in laboratory/process/Healthcare systems including compressed gasses and alternative waste and water systems
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- 0 – 4 Years of experience in Plumbing System Design in Consulting Engineering or Sub-Contracting fields.
- Knowledge of plumbing design and load calculation software such as Revit.
- Excellent Organizational and Communication skills.
- Proactive and Collaborative team member.
- Experience in designing Healthcare, Sports, Commercial, Public Sector, Industrial, Education, and/or Institutional projects.
- CPD or CPDT a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering a plus.
- EI License a plus.
