Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
System Design: Collaborate with project teams to design Plumbing and Fire Protection systems that meet client requirements, local codes, and industry standards. This includes water distribution, sanitary and stormwater systems, sprinkler systems, and standpipe systems.
Project Coordination: Work closely with architects, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of Plumbing and Fire Protection systems with the overall building design.
Code Compliance: Stay up-to-date with relevant building codes and regulations in New Jersey and other jurisdictions, ensuring designs adhere to all legal and safety requirements.
Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and calculations to support the construction and installation of Plumbing and Fire Protection systems.
Material and Equipment Selection: Research and select appropriate materials and equipment for Plumbing and Fire Protection systems, considering efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
Quality Assurance: Conduct quality control reviews of designs and construction documentation to ensure accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to understand their specific needs, address concerns, and provide technical expertise during project meetings.
Continual Learning: Keep current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in Plumbing and Fire Protection design.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Plumbing and Fire Protection system design, preferably in an MEP consulting firm.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant design software.
Strong knowledge of Plumbing and Fire Protection codes and standards, particularly those in New Jersey.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey is a plus.
