LOCATION AND APPLICATION INFORMATION:
This position is located at the Office of State Museum in New Orleans, LA.
Applicants applying to this announcement should be aware that this is a part-time WAE (when actually employed) position without benefits, and shall not exceed 1245 hours in a 12-month period.
The master plumber is responsible for scheduling, reviewing, installing, repairing, overseeing and maintaining all plumbing systems throughout the Louisiana State Museum system to include the following properties: Cabildo, Creole House, Arsenal, Jackson House, Presbytere, Madame John's Legacy, Collection Facility, Lower Pontalba, 1850 House and the Old U.S. Mint all located in New Orleans. Also included are the following properties: E.D> White House in Thibodeaux, Weddell Williams Aviation and Cypress Sawmill in Patterson, Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Regional History Museum in Natchitoches and the Capitol Park Museum located in Baton Rouge.
These duties involve repair/maintenance to the domestic water supply, sanitary waste drainage, chilled and hot water systems, and natural gas services or tunnel installations located above or below ground.

Three years of experience in pipefitting, steamfitting, or plumbing.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Training in the plumbing, pipefitting, or steamfitting trade will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required experience on a month for month basis.
Function of Work:
To perform highly skilled, technical installations, repairs and modification to all plumbing systems including above and below ground, low and high pressure steam, gas and water systems for a large state agency complex, using multiple trades skills (plumbing, welding, insulating, pipefitting).
Level of Work:
Advanced.
Supervision Received:
Broad review from a Plumber/Pipefitter Foreman.
Supervision Exercised:
Lead worker over Plumber/Pipefitter and Apprentices.
Location of Work:
May be used by all state agencies.
Job Distinctions:
Differs from Plumber/Pipefitter Foreman by the lack of responsibility for supervision and administrative duties over a plumbing unit.
Differs from Plumber/Pipefitter by performing more difficult tasks and by assignment of leadworker responsibilities.Performs repairs, troubleshooting and modification to above and below ground systems including tunnel installations.
Performs repairs on high and low pressure gas, steam and water systems.
Performs repairs and preventive maintenance to domestic and commercial hot water heaters and boilers to insure they are within code and insurance specifications.
Works from and with complex plans and specifications.
Installs and repairs steam regulators, steam traps and relief valves.
Assembles various metal and plastic pressure and sewage piping using threaded joints, soldering techniques, clamps, bonds, leaded joints, etc.
Performs work in all phases of insulation and welding.
Repairs fire mains and installs kicker blocks and valves according to specifications.
Performs other related work as directed or required.
Repairs, replaces and maintains steam sterilizers.
Calibrates and adjust controls on steam and hot water sterilizers.
Maintains and installs medical air lines, vacuum lines, nitrous oxide and oxygen systems.Employment Type: Classified
