PLC Electrical/Controls Engineer

The Big Picture:
Howden, a Chart Industries Company is a a global engineering business who focus on providing clients with industrial products that help multiple sectors to improve their everyday processes.
We are hiring a full-time PLC Electrical/Controls Engineer .
This is an onsite position located in Windsor, CT.
What needs to be done?

• Design, program, and test electrical control panels and instrument panels for compressors and rotary blowers in a variety of applications like wastewater treatment, incineration, chemicals, petrol-chemicals, iron ore reduction and wet flue gas desulfurization.
• Develop detailed project quotations for electrical panel and related instrumentation based on customer and engineering requirements for the control systems.
• Resolve any questions through written and verbal communication with the customer.
• Produce drawings, schematics, BOM's, sequence of operations and other required documentation to support and accompany the project.
• Work from established Howden and industry standards as well as special design requirements as needed.
• Research, specify and document the selection of peripheral control components to interface with the system, based on customer specifications, performance, availability and cost.
• Troubleshoot in-house and field problems, plus supply start up assistance on the more sophisticated electrical control systems; some travel to customer job site required approximately 10% - 20%.
• Participate in the development of new and existing inhouse Engineering Standards for electrical control.
• Develop and troubleshoot PLC programs to project requirements.

What do you need to bring?

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a controls / instrumentation design role.
• Experience with industrial three phase motors and motor controls systems.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and AutoCAD Electrical.
• Knowledge and use of MRP systems to develop BOM's. Experience with Baan would be an advantage.
• Experience in working with and writing code for Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC systems would be an advantage.
• A working knowledge of UL508A and NEC would be an advantage.
• A self-starter requiring minimal supervision.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate both verbally and written at all levels of the organization and with the customer.
• Willingness to travel when required.
