Job Title:Playground Supervisor

Monday-Friday

4 Days Per week

1.00 hour per day (Averaging 4.00 hours per week)

Hours: 12:00 PM - 01:00 PM (M,T,Th,F)

SUMMARY
Under supervision of the Principal, assists in the supervision of students on an elementary or junior high campus breakfast, lunch and other recess periods; monitors student conduct in any location on the campus where students gather to encourage safe and courteous behavior in accordance with school rule, policy and regulation; and to do other job-related work as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other job-related duties may be assigned.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise all students during breakfast, lunch and other recess periods;
  • Enforce school rules, policies and regulations concerning the safety, well-being and proper behavior of students;
  • Maintain a safe and orderly environment;
  • Alert the site administrator or teacher to any problem about an individual student;
  • Correct or report conditions hazardous to the health and safety of children.

Knowledge of

  • Positive reinforcement skills.

Ability to

  • Work well with elementary and junior high school age students;
  • Exercise patience, tact and kindness to all regular education and special education students;
  • Establish and maintain a friendly, cooperative and effective relationship with students, school administrators and the community;
  • Direct and respond appropriately to students;
  • Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action;
  • Occasionally work with students who may exhibit aggressive behavior, have medical or health needs or have physical or emotional disabilities.

Knowledge of school rules, policies and regulations and the social and personal needs of elementary and junior high school age students.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Some experience in working with elementary or junior high school age students is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and write at the level required for successful job performance.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to choose among a limited number of alternatives in solving routine problems.
