Supervisor - 2nd Shift
Summary of Position Responsibilities:
Responsible to assure effective day to day operations of the Shift. Communicates quality failures and improvement plans to production manager and shift personnel on an ongoing basis. Drives continuous improvement activities on shift and throughout the organization. Assists in ensuring adherence to company policy and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
• Implement production schedule including secondary operations & assembly. Coordinate shift employee activities in conjunction with quality leaders consistent with company policy, procedure, and expectation. Plan, communicate and execute shift expectations and detail to staff and oncoming staff. Motivate shift staff in daily production goals, facility appearance, customer service and continuous improvement projects (being with shift personnel daily as a partner and motivator – working side by side)
• Assist production manager with staff performance evaluations, issues, and development. Aware of individual staff performance levels.
• Adjusts shift staffing levels to complete daily required operations. Assure effective utilization of labor. This activity coordinates with priority list. Coordinate scheduled PTO time and act when unscheduled absences occur with both direct (Operators) and indirect (Material Handler, Quality Leader, and Technician) staff.
• Coordinates initial and continuous training of shift staff, to include new processes and engineering changes for example, having complete knowledge of training requirements, and follow through of the same (training check off sheets)
• Actively participates in the launch of new products and processes. Gain full knowledge of new launches, coordinating with assigned quality leaders and champions. Complete handoff to oncoming shift coordinators and quality leaders.
• Assumes overall quality responsibility of shift.
o Pro-active in eliminating possible customer quality concerns.
o Has authority to stop production and stop shipment to correct quality issues.
o Respond to customer quality issues in coordination with appropriate staff (Quality leaders, Quality and Manufacturing Engineers, Tool Room Staff, Maintenance, etc.)
o Coordinate quarantine activities with the appropriate personnel when necessary (as listed above).
o Seek approval for re-work activities and coordinate accordingly and communicate continuation to oncoming shift.
• Complete and verify production reporting information. Ensure production reporting accuracy (i.e., scrap sheets). Prepare run down for oncoming shift (shift hand off). Enter shift production in production book.
• Participates as an active member of safety committee. Perform facility walkthroughs and help ensure a safe working environment on each shift. Aware of procedures and emergency plans.
• Coordinates 5S compliance activities to meet company expectations. Housekeeping and organization of facility focused and communicating the how and why of the company expectation.
• Provides suggestions for continuous improvement opportunities, changes that could improve or increase process efficiency, labor usage,
• Other duties as assigned, i.e., requisition for production floor supplies, assists on floor when and where needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
2-4 years plastic process technical experience
High School diploma or equivalent
Completed training in material handling and operator functions.
Good working knowledge of automated equipment
Good working knowledge of material handling responsibilities
1-2 years of quality control experience or completed quality leader training.
Proven leadership ability – flexible/lead/do/motivate/own
Ability to problem solve – get to the root cause.
High level of interpersonal skills with strong emphasis on communication across all levels

Pay is commensurate with experience.
