Position Summary
Operate and monitor all equipment in the University Central Utility Plant (CUP) and other buildings on campus in a safe and efficient manner. Make rounds and complete operating logs, monitor campus equipment through the energy management systems, note deficiencies and take corrective action. Maintain, perform preventative maintenance, and complete minor repairs on all equipment within the CUP as required. Conduct routine utility systems inspections and respond to emergency calls in other buildings and grounds on UNO campus during evening and weekend and holiday hours.

Operate and monitor all equipment located within the CUP and other buildings on campus. Components include but not limited to chillers, boilers, air handling units, pumps, air compressors, emergency generators, valves, A/C units, distillers, water softeners, etc...

Maintain, perform preventative maintenance, and complete minor repairs on all equipment within the CUP as required. Must be able to use basic hand tools, tube cleaning equipment, ladders, lifts, press, drills, grinders, saws, refrigeration gauges, volt/ohm/amp meters etc.

Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Experience
Two years' experience with large district heating and cooling equipment, and building mechanical systems, one year experience in hands on boiler operation, one year experience with computerized energy management systems. Valid Driver's License
Required License/Certification
City of Omaha - Third Grade Engineers License or must obtain within 6 months of hire date.
