Overall Scope of Responsibility of the Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator:

  • The Plant Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Leader must effectively lead the plant programs in support of the cabinet manufacturing operations. This person will provide leadership, technical, and regulatory expertise in the areas of environment, safety, health, occupational medical services, workers' compensation, emergency services, and security. This person will also direct the activities of the plant safety trainers and work with the plant staff to drive improvement and assist in the plant deployment of a lean culture. The EHS Leader directs an effective plant environmental process capable of zero violations for regulatory noncompliance and zero citations for safety and health regulatory compliance. This person also leads an effective safety and health process capable of zero occupational injuries and illnesses.

     

    PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Full implementation of the Corporate and local plant health and safety activities including: Machine Assessments (MAPS) Process, housekeeping (6S), incident investigations and corrective actions, lock out tag out, and other safety initiatives including daily audits.
  • Compliance with recognized fundamental principles that pertain to Environment Health and Safety (EHS)
  • Develop and administer an annual EHS Plan and Emergency Action Plan and other required written programs.
  • Provide guidance regarding all aspects of environment, health and safety including compliance with the various OSHA, EPA, PADEP and other regulations that pertain to operations
  • Ensure proper operation of all required environmental programs, including: air quality management, hazardous/residual/universal waste management (including waste minimization), storm water, etc. and ensure that proper inspections are completed.
  • Ensure a compliant and fully documented process for environment health and safety permit compliance (Title V / State Only Operating Permit, etc.)
  • Ensure accurate and on-time submission of environmental reports
  • Create an effective EHS auditing and inspection process for all EHS systems and ensure that identified issues are addressed
  • Ensure the accurate creation and maintenance of all required records including the OSHA 300 Log, the incident report log, SDS books, lockout tagout procedures, employee safety training and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs)
  • Ensure accurate sampling, testing, measurement, and assessment of environmental systems
  • Coordinate the safety supply program and ensure that all safety supplies are stocked and accessible to employees
  • Ensure injury and environmental incidents are fully investigated, reported, and corrective actions are completed
  • Complete necessary worker’s compensation reports, monitor claims status, and facilitate appropriate return to work plans for work-related injuries
  • Responsible for plant safety metrics (Incident, Frequency, Severity and Dart rates)
  • Responsible for all aspects of OSHA compliance
  • Conduct periodic shift safety team meetings and safety trainings
  • Coordinate the plant’s environmental sustainability efforts
  • Oversee reasonable suspicion drug testing, plant safety shoe/eyewear program, and audiometric testing

  • ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in an environmental / safety / engineering / technical field required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years Environmental, Health and Safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Two or more years of experience managing a workers compensation program
  • Prior experience in leading site EHS activities and creating a safety culture resulting in a reduction of unsafe employee behaviors and conditions
  • Knowledgeable of EHS regulations, systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean and/or other process improvement methodologies desired
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation).
