Planning Intern

HRG is an employee-owned, nationally ranked design firm providing civil engineering, surveying, and environmental services to the private and public sectors. 

We are actively seeking a Planning Intern to join our team of talented professionals in Pittsburgh, PA. As a PlanningIntern, you are responsible for:

     Performing data entry and preparing spreadsheets, graphs, charts, and other deliverables for inclusion in plans and reports

     Communicating with internal and external clients

     Organizing files and records necessary data/information

     Writing, designing, and formatting portions of a project or plan.

     Performing and summarizing research regarding municipal zoning and other code and ordinance requirements and examples  

     Assisting in preparation of plan documents and reports 

     Assisting with public engagement and outreach related to planning projects including attendance at miscellaneous meetings or community events as may be required by the project, some of which may be after normal business hours in the evenings and/or on weekends.

Requirements

     Currently working towards a Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Planning, Urban Studies, or a related field with emphasis on community planning, economic development, zoning and land use, public outreach and engagement, code enforcement, and data compilation, research, and analysis

     Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.

     Knowledge and familiarity of ArcGIS and Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and/or InDesign) is beneficial, but not required.

     Experience with data research analysis, particularly Census Data is a plus.

     Team player possessing strong communication and organizational skills and strong writing skills.

     This position requires travel to job sites and other offices as necessary, and therefore requires a valid Driver's License

     Has the legal right to work in the U.S.
