A Boutique Law Firm is seeking an attorney on a temp-to-hire basis for its Wildfire Litigation Team. California Bar License required. This team specializes in litigating against electrical utilities for starting major wildfire events across the nation. Our clients are insurance companies that pay property claims and then sue the responsible parties to recover the money paid out to insureds. We are plaintiffs in these actions, and we need to aggressively pursue discovery, as the defense tries to stall and delay. We need someone with a fire in their belly (excuse the pun) who is willing to work hard and long hours when required. We have many upcoming trials in the next year so trial experience and keen organizational skills are much preferred.
We require an attorney willing to work in-person, hands-on, from our Irvine, California office. We are a team, and we benefit from collaboration. Some flexibility to work from home as circumstances require after getting to know your work.
Our perfect candidate has experience with drafting and responding to discovery; reviewing responses and production; and proactively pushing defense when frequent discovery disputes escalate. This person has experience in working on complex pleadings and performing top-level legal research. This person does not shy away from confrontation. It's just part of the business.
Our firm is up against top-tier defense firms, and we are certainly willing to pay top dollar for the right talent. While we will be impressed by your Harvard, Stanford, or equivalent degree, it is not required. We really want someone who is motivated, hard-working, and won't break under pressure. Going to trial is not for the faint of heart. We don't need “teacups,” because this litigation is rough and tumble.
