We are looking for full time outstanding Medical Assistants to join our team of medical professionals, to help educate and register expectant mothers to be part of an exciting placenta and stem cell donor program. Typically, after a baby is born, the placenta and umbilical cord is discarded as medical waste. We now offer the opportunity for parents to donate this important biological material to further important medical research and therapeutics that someday will be used to treat cancers, genetic diseases and even infections such as Covid-19. The Medical Assistant will primarily be located at the Maternity Floor at Winnie Palmer Hospital.
Donor Collection Coordinator Responsibilities after training.
1. EDUCATE: The Donor Coordinator will educate expecting mothers on donating their Placental Tissue and umbilical cord blood. The donation will enhance ongoing research for the treatment of diseases, diabetic ulcers, cancers, and autoimmune diseases.
2. SCREEN: All Donor Coordinators perform birth tissue pre-qualification processes including obtaining consent for birth tissue and completing medical social and history interviews with donors. This includes obtaining electronic consent forms, digital health screen questionnaires, and a copy of the patient’s prenatal history. THIS REQUIRES METICULOUS ATTENTION TO DETAIL.
3. REVIEW: All Donor Coordinators must ensure recovery documentation is reviewed before submission. Responsibilities include a thorough review of the donor informed consent and maternal health screen questionnaire. Donor Coordinators must maintain confidentiality upon all donor documents including the review of prenatal records.
4. RECOVER: Responsibilities as the Donor Coordinator include the recovery of Placental Tissue is complete, and all company procedures are followed upon the collection process. Each Donor Coordinator performs tasks related to birth tissue acquisition overseen and or regulated by the AATB (aseptic technique), FDA, and applicable state and federal regulations. Responsibilities also include properly packing biological materials and packaging tissue.
5. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: All Donor Coordinators must participate in education training courses, company meetings, attend quality control trainings, ensure shipping standards are compliant, adhere to SOPs and protocols to facilitate birth tissue acquisition.
Note: All employees will undergo an extensive training program covering all skills needed to review Placental Tissue recovery and safety guidelines. All training modules will cover extensive PPE training, HIPAA training, donor eligibility guidelines, donor deferral guidelines, placenta inspection protocols, and health screen training. All Donor Coordinators have a 6-month probationary period. Your direct manager will evaluate your performance every 6 months and complete the necessary documents to ensure policies and procedures are being followed. Donor Coordinator promotion levels are given every 2 years until the highest level is achieved.
