POSITION: PK-12 SCHOOL MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL (3 year only Grant Funded Position 2023-2026 )

School Psychologist, Social Worker, or School Counselor

JOB DESCRIPTION: The following statements of essential functions and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. Actual duties and responsibilities may vary depending on building assignment and other factors determined with the supervisor.
DESIRED QUALITIES:
  • Professional CDE or DORA certifications such as School Counseling, School Social Worker, LCSW, LSSW, or LPC.
  • Previous school and/or clinical experience in mental and behavioral health.
  • Awareness of, and contacts with, community resources
  • Understanding of neurobiological developmental norms and/or neuropsychology.
  • Flexibility to work with a wide age range of students and staff persons throughout the school district
  • Knowledge of the social, ethical, and legal concerns related to children.
  • Advocate for School Mental Health and trauma informed and responsive practices
  • Awareness of the impact of various traumas and adverse childhood experiences viewed through the lens of Dr. Bruce Perry's Neurosequential Model.
  • Hands-on experience with social or behavioral health screeners or assessments.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE and TRAINING:
  • Knowledge or willingness to engage in training of the Dr. Bruce Perry Neurosequential Model concepts of Education.
  • Knowledge of brain development and its importance to student learning
  • Experience linking students with community-based therapeutic, social, and/or counseling services.
  • Knowledge and ability to collaborate, train, and equip school staff to execute evidence-based programming and interventions specific to academic performance, behavioral health, and substance prevention education.
  • Participate in District-wide MENTAL HEALTH Professional Learning Communities
  • Experience conducting Threat and Suicide assessments.
  • Knowledge and experience with psychological diagnosis and preferred treatment modalities and psychotropic medications and their effects and side effects
  • Awareness of signs of physical, emotional, and mental abuse in children.
  • Proficiency in collaborating with educators and other professionals to implement Tier II & III Academic and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) interventions.
  • Experience using restorative practices.
  • Experience using Collaborative Problem Solving or other student-centered approaches
  • Familiarity with implementing a variety of data collection methods.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with all stakeholders
  • Current certification or willing to train in Red Cross .First Aid/CPR.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Current valid Colorado license with appropriate endorsement(s)
  • Fingerprint/background screening required

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Approximately 8/8/2023 to 6/1/2026
