Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Statewide Clinical Director, the Licensed Mental Health Professional (LPCC or LPC) will contribute to the implementation, growth and development of MIKID services provided in geographic areas defined by MIKID as Colorado.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
A. Administration
• Assure that the quality of clinical services is maintained through individual and group.
• Provide regular documented reporting to the Clinical Director regarding program services as assigned.
• This position will act as a liaison between MIKID and funding sources such as RBHA's/TRBHA's, Community Rehabilitation Services, etc.; other agencies located in their assigned geographic areas; clients and their representatives; and the community at large.
• Participate in internal and external committees and management team meetings.
• Participate in biweekly clinical oversight.
• Other duties as assigned.
B. Clinical Services
• Provide, when needed, the following services to clients or the public:
1. Information and referral to clients and community resources.
2. Intake interviews and admission documentation.
3. Crisis intervention.
4. Individual and/or group counseling as assigned.
5. Coordinate admission and discharge of clients.
• Provide individual and family counseling to at-risk adolescents in their homes, schools and community settings.
• Will counsel, listen, support, and monitor the patient for progress. The counselor will work with individuals and groups and will help provide community resources for patients.
• Have direct and proficient understanding in utilization of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Trauma Informed Care (TIC)
• Provide short-term crisis intervention and management as warranted to youth who display risk factors and may benefit from connection to Mental Health services.
• Diagnosing patient mental and emotional disorders
• Developing a treatment plan that may include counseling, setting patient goals and discussing a treatment plan and other services needed by recommendation by referring patients to resources like psychiatrists, treatment facilities, or community services.
• Accessing patient needs and developing strategies to help the patient.
• Maintaining good working relationships with support networks, government resources, and community resources
• Advising and guiding patients through difficult decisions
• Helping patients with a variety of issues such as substance abuse, bullying, anger management, depression, relationships, stress and suicide
• Ensure that clinical records are accurate, current, and meet Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) standards and Office of Behavioral Health Licensure (OBHL) regulations.
• Coordinates quality management, access to care, transfer, triage, caseload management, timely documentation, productivity, and direct service functions; implements and manages service and performance improvement, and corrective action plans, and manages program statistical data.
• Review statewide Assessments, and Service Plans for appropriateness for MIKID services.
• The counselor will be responsible for helping people manage and overcome mental and emotional issues through counseling services (individual, group, and family).
• The counselor will complete assessments, develop treatment plans and along implementation, growth.
• Assist with preparation for medical record audits.
• Participate in monitoring data collection and clinical performance for direct services as assigned, including intake and discharge, caseload capacity, clinical documentation, covered service encounters and productivity, appointment scheduling, re-engagement, scheduling of services, and outcome related measures.
• Commit to the provision of culturally competent services.
• Provide consultation and support to staff as needed including critical incident debriefing and when challenging situations arise.
• Provide back-up clinical care to clients when assigned staff is unavailable.
• Share a regular rotation providing after-hour clinical services for all programs and respite program.
• Provide oversight, training and direction for Statewide external and internal incident reports.
• Provide Billable services where needed and attend CFT's and IEP Meetings when appropriate.
• The counselor will be responsible for helping people manage and overcome mental and emotional issues. The counselor will listen to patients and ask questions to help understand their problems and develop strategies to improve their lives. The counselor will diagnose, treat, and help patients create coping strategies.
C. Consultation and Education
• Provide consultation about clinical and administrative issues to other resources as requested.
• Provide educational training and information to the adults and families and to the general public as needed.
• Provide leadership about in-service training offered to staff, assuring that it meets licensure standards and clinical needs.
• Seek consultation when knowledge, skill, and/or ability may exceed scope of practice.
• Participate as a supervisee in regularly scheduled supervision.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Working knowledge of Microsoft products.
• Knowledge of youth guided family driven care.
• Knowledge of Family Run Organizations in the Behavioral Health Field.
• Extensive knowledge of behavioral health agency policies and procedures.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in dealing with issues of a sensitive nature.
• Current CPR and 1st Aid Certification.
• Prefer an individual with life experience with a child in the behavioral health system and at least one other child serving system. (Example: Special Education, Juvenile Justice, Child Protective Services, Developmental Disabilities. Etc.)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Master's degree or higher in a counseling specialty from an accredited school.
• Two years post masters experience.
• Licensed with the State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies and in good standing with their LPC. LPC, LPCC - To qualify without your LPC you must have already completed your master's degree, be registered as a candidate on DORA as an LPCC and be working towards licensure.
• Bilingual preferred- Spanish
• Generalist knowledge in general Mental Health, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, and serious mental illness.
• Must be 21 years old or older.
• Possess a valid driver's license and ability to be insured under automobile insurance policy.
• Able to work a flexible schedule as needed per program requirements.
• Must successfully complete the agency's orientation and demonstrate competence regarding skills and knowledge per R9-20-204.
• Have basic typing/computer skills.
• Possesses superb written and spoken communication skills, Have good organization and time management skills.
• Experience in Tele-Health Services is important.
• Ability to attend entry-level supervision continuing education within six months of assuming position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
• Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as copy machine and printer.
• Frequently ascends/descends stairs to visit other offices or attend meetings.
• Occasionally positions self to reach desk drawers, file cabinets, etc.
• Frequently communicates with internal and external constituents related to transition topics, youth involvement and education.
• Must be able to travel and operate a vehicle for up to 6 hours in a day.
