SUMMARY
Serves as the on-site supervisor and working superintendent for HVAC piping construction projects.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Experience – Require at least ten years’ experience welding and pipefitting with at least 7 years in the HVAC industry. Preferably, with 2 or more years’ experience as a Superintendent.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- The Superintendent directs the activities of employees engaged in the construction of HVAC systems.
- Manages work in progress to ensure that it conforms to design specifications and scope, that construction schedules are met and that the job stays in budget.
- Works with vendors to release materials to job sites in a timely and efficient manner.
- Prepares daily reports, weekly timecard reports and other project-related paperwork.
- Work with project team to identify change order opportunities and ensure change orders are in prior to doing the work.
- Participates in meetings with Project Management Team, General Contractor, End User, and Other Project Subcontractors.
- Coordinates work by other trades (electricians, plumbers, ironworkers).
- Inspects, examines, and tests installed systems and pipelines using pressure testing, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.
- Maintain safe working standards.
- Maintain a working knowledge of HVAC construction standards.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
- Excellent knowledge of the principals of HVAC construction, including piping, piping support, and piping insulation details, and valves.
- Prior leadership experience in a similar role.
- Read blueprints and BIM to determine proper placement of equipment, piping, supports, and components needed to build HVAC systems.
- Order, receive and install materials and supplies needed to maintain construction schedule.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with an emphasis on customer service and professional representation of the company,
- Ability to negotiate and mediate issues with a variety of personalities on a project site.
