Description
Responsible for the installation of new stationary equipment and for maintaining and performing actual repairs on different styles and types of stationary equipment found within a petrochemical refinery.
•Installs and maintains various types of stationary equipment in a petrochemical refinery.
•Measures and installs pipes based on isometric drawing, blueprints or sketches.
•Lays out pipes at any angle or radius.
•Installs expansion joints, steam traps, and gauge glasses.
•Cuts, bends, and installs copper and stainless-steel tubing.
•Fabricates threaded piping.
•Installs piping on hangers and supports.
•Cleans process lines safely.
•Makes piping templates for non-standard fittings.
•Installs instrumentation tubing and pipe.
•Identifies, inspects, removes, and replaces process valves.
•Removes and replaces rupture discs, relief valves, and vacuum relief valves.
•Cuts, fits, assembles, and installs PVC piping.
•Understands and applies formulas from standard Pipefitter's and Pipe Welder's handbooks.
•Adheres to all work rules, safety, and environmental procedures and regulations.
•Installs and removes blinds and gaskets of all types according to refinery specifications.
•Utilizes proper methods for hydro-testing stationary equipment.
•Removes and installs tank manways and air movers.
•Assists other crafts, such as riggers, pump mechanics, and general craftspeople.
•Maintains heat exchange equipment (shell and tube, fin fans, etc.).
•Maintains boilers (steam generators).
•Maintains storage tanks.
•Maintains towers (entering, tunneling, and repairing during shutdowns).
•Installs and maintains process pipe and piping systems within the refinery.
•Selects, installs, and removes various pipe, and piping systems, fittings, gaskets, tubing, and valves.
•Repairs and replaces flanges and performs maintenance on leaking pipes. Follows safety and work permits to tie into existing lines, vessels, or tanks.
•Uses hand and power tools to complete assigned work tasks.
•Uses precision measuring and alignment tools to ensure proper alignment.
•Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret basic schematics, blueprints, and drawings.
•Follows guidelines and procedures to ensure that equipment is working in a safe and reliable manner.
This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of 5 years related pipefitter experience is required.
