Job Overview:
As a Shipyard Staffing Pipe Welder, you will be responsible for welding pipes used in the construction and repair of ships. You will work in a shipyard environment, often outdoors, and may be required to work at heights or in confined spaces. Your primary goal will be to ensure that all welded pipe structures on board ships are built to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Weld pipes used in ship construction and repair.
- Use hand and power tools, including grinders, drills, and saws, to prepare pipes for welding.
- Operate welding equipment, including stick, MIG, and TIG welders, to join pipes together.
- Use precision measuring instruments, such as levels and plumb bobs, to ensure that pipes are aligned and welded correctly.
- Conduct regular quality control inspections to ensure that all welded pipe structures are built to the highest standards of quality and safety.
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical school training in welding or a related field is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Pipe Welder in a shipyard or marine environment.
- Strong knowledge of pipes and piping systems used in ship construction and repair.
- Proficient in the use of hand and power tools, including grinders, drills, and saws.
- Experience operating welding equipment, including stick, MIG, and TIG welders.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
