General Description
Employees assigned to the truck loading department use pallet jacks, forklift trucks and manual lifting to load trailers with completed products (stainless steel restaurant equipment and wood fixtures) to be delivered to customer locations in a timely and efficient manner.
Work Environment: Manufacturing shop, occasional exposure to heat and cold.
Work Schedule: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Regular and punctual attendance.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in an effective manner with coworkers and supervisors.
- Check work area for safety.
- Locate equipment and fixtures to be loaded in truck by use of a pick list and place in staging area.
- Notify supervisor of any items on the pick list that cannot be found.
- Use pallet jacks and forklift truck to pick up pallets, rolling carts to move lighter items, and occasionally manually lift items to be loaded.
- Blanket wrap items as necessary to prevent shipping damage to items.
- Lift and stack items in trailer as necessary to make full use of space.
- Load trucks in a manner to prevent items from shifting during transport, making use of locking bars and tie downs.
- Crate items for LTL shipment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; ability to read English.
- 1 - 2 years of previous truck loading or shipping experience
- Ability to operate a pallet jack and forklift truck
- Familiar with reading a tape measure and safe use of a chop saw
- Safety awareness, quality orientation and energy
- Willingness to contribute to team success
Physical Requirements
Regularly standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, repetitive grasping and seeing. Regular lifting up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lifting up to 100 lbs. with assistance; most lifting is done to waist level but may occasionally be to shoulder level when stacking items.
