Job Description:
The medical radiation physicist is responsible for helping to plan the course of treatment for the cancer patient under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist. This will include review of computer applications relevant to the treatment and quality assurance mechanisms regarding dose distribution, and evaluation of treatment plans. Other responsibilities include review of daily output/dose measurements, review of maintenance reports, monthly calibration of therapy equipment, overseeing the installation of new equipment and acceptance testing of same, and establishing overall quality assurance mechanisms used in the department. The physicist will participate in process improvement projects and prepare reports for monthly QA meetings.
Minimum Requirements:
MS in therapeutic medical physics or medical radiation physics
Board Certified or eligible for certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). If Board eligible, candidates will be required to obtain certification within six calendar years per the ABR's standards. Preferably, certification will be obtained within one to three years.
Minimum 3-5 years clinical experience
Experience with SRS, SBRT, Eclipse TPS, and Aria EHR preferred
