Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment and Evaluation:
- Conduct thorough and comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history, physical examination, and diagnostic tests related to vascular conditions.
- Accurately diagnose and evaluate patients' vascular health status in a variety of settings including hospitals, long-term care facilities, or specialized office settings.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to develop individualized treatment plans.
- Treatment and Management:
- Prescribe appropriate medications, therapies, and treatments for patients based on their specific vascular conditions.
- Monitor patients' progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and ensure continuity of care.
- Provide patient education on managing vascular conditions, lifestyle modifications, and preventive measures.
- Vascular Procedures:
- Perform minor vascular procedures and interventions under the supervision of a physician, adhering to best practices and safety protocols.
- Assist with invasive procedures such as venous ablation, sclerotherapy, and arterial interventions.
- Patient Communication and Counseling:
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, ensuring they understand their diagnosis, treatment options, and care plan.
- Offer emotional support and counseling to patients dealing with vascular conditions.
- Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Document patient care and treatment plans in a timely and organized manner.
- Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, technologists, and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient care.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on patient care and process improvement.
- Continuous Professional Development:
- Stay updated with advancements in vascular medicine, attending conferences, workshops, and continuing education sessions.
- Maintain relevant certifications and licenses as required.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in specialization (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant)
- Valid and active NP or PA license in Virginia
- Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) with experience in vascular medicine preferred for NP
- Previous experience in a vascular outpatient practice, cardiology, or related specialty is advantageous.
- Strong clinical skills, including the ability to diagnose and manage vascular conditions effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant healthcare technologies.
