Physical Therapist (Outpatient)

The Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana (RHI) provides quality rehabilitation services to those facing life-changing injuries or illnesses. We specialize in the areas of brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, and complex medical conditions. RHI is the only Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Model System in the state of Indiana and one of only 16 in the U.S. RHI has two locations. Our facility on the northwest side of Indianapolis provides inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services to patients 15 years of age and older. Our facility on the north side of Indianapolis specializes in outpatient, interdisciplinary brain injury services for ages 15 and older as well as serves clientele with neuro and ortho-physical therapy needs and pediatric vision needs.

SUMMARY

The Physical Therapist is responsible for O.T. services including, but not limited to, evaluations, treatment, equipment recommendations, modality application under a physician's referral, clinical direction to C.O.T.A.'s, therapy techs, and students, and documentation of services for the physical medicine rehab population from pediatric (Vision Program only), age 15 and older.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Administer OT evaluations to inpatients and outpatients, determining appropriate treatment programs and/or equipment needs
• Develop a treatment plan based on evaluation, patient goals, age-related issues/needs, and goals established by the therapist and referring practitioner
• Perform direct patient care services and necessary family instruction, utilizing appropriate techniques and procedures to avoid or minimize accidents and injury related to unsafe practice
• Accurately document patient treatment in a timely manner
• Provide clinical supervision, including but not limited to coordination of care and delegation of duties to assistants, techs, and yearly students

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Previous experience in rehabilitation setting strongly preferred
• Must be registered/certified by National Board for Certification of OTs and licensed by the State of Indiana Health Professionals Bureau
• Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in OT from an accredited program required
