Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment and Evaluation:
- Perform thorough initial assessments of patients' physical conditions, functional limitations, and mobility.
- Develop personalized treatment plans based on the assessment findings and in consultation with the medical team.
- Treatment Implementation:
- Administer therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, gait training, and other evidence-based interventions to improve patients' physical function.
- Monitor patients' progress and modify treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Patient Education:
- Educate patients and their families on exercises, mobility aids, and techniques for maintaining or improving physical function.
- Provide guidance on home exercise programs to promote continued recovery.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity of services.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and team meetings to discuss patient progress and treatment plans.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries, in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Quality Improvement:
- Stay informed about the latest advancements in physical therapy and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the department.
- Doctorate or Master's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
- State licensure as a Physical Therapist.
- CPR certification and other relevant certifications may be required.
- Prior experience in Acute Care or hospital-based physical therapy is preferred but not mandatory.
