POSITION:Physical Therapist Assistant Program Director
STATUS:Full-Time, Exempt
REPORTS TO:State Director
START DATE:January 2024
LOCATION:Wauwatosa Campus
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Effectively serve as the academic leader of the Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Oversee Internship site selection criteria to support PTA competency requirements within the legal scope of practice.
  • Oversee the admissions and progression of students.
  • Orient all faculty and students to and promote the safe use of PTA related equipment and supplies.
  • Advise students regarding coursework and fieldwork education.
  • Participate in the campus budget process.
  • Participate in curriculum monitoring and development process.
  • Establish a calendar and system to ensure the timely and accurate completion and submission of all government and accrediting agency reports. Complete all such reports.

2. Manage the hiring, development, evaluation, and termination of subject-area instructors in collaboration with the Dean of Instruction.
  • Evaluate faculty credentials as part of the hiring and scheduling processes.
  • Orient faculty to programmatic policies and procedures including effective teaching, learning, and assessment practices within 60 days of hire.
  • Ensure that all subject-area instructors adhere to all required administrative and classroom delivery duties and requirements as outlined in the job description for Instructional Associates.
  • Evaluate and coach faculty with respect to department expectations, course development, and rigor. Provide on-going development opportunities for subject-area instructors to aid in their continuous improvement and growth.
  • Perform developmental and evaluative classroom observations in a timely manner, facilitate pre- and post-observation discussions, and collaborate with faculty in creation of developmental plans.Monitor progress toward and completion of action plans.
  • Lead instructional delivery and methodology training (along with peer PDs) under the supervision of the dean.
  • Perform annual performance reviews for subject-area instructors in a timely manner.

3. Adhere to and uphold all established operational policies and procedures
  • Ensure that all subject-area instructors adhere to all required administrative and classroom delivery duties and requirements as outlined in the job description for Instructional Associates.
  • Ensure adherence to College-wide policies.
  • Ensure adherence to program specific procedures as defined in the student handbook.
  • Ensure adherence and compliance with all CAPTE standards for continued programmatic accreditation

4. Assure achievement of positive program outcomes to promote student success.
  • Achieve annual benchmarks for graduation rate.
  • Achieve annual benchmarks for licensure pass rates.
  • Achieve annual benchmarks for employment rates.
  • Assist with the recruitment and admission process to assure cohort size meets established goals.
  • Evaluate outcomes above and make programmatic modifications to achieve established benchmarks.
  • Analyze program statistics; implement strategies to improve retention and completion rates

5. Pursue opportunities for professional growth, including a focus on contemporary Physical Therapy practice, best practices in educational foundations, and program management, evaluation and modification.
6. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of assigned fields.
7. Serve as a member of the college-wide physical therapy Assistant Program Director committee.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Earned doctorate in an appropriate field (preferred)
  • Earned master's degree in related field
  • Current valid physical therapy license or a licensed, certified, or registered (if required) Physical Therapist Assistant
  • Five years of documented experience as a Physical Therapist or a physical therapy assistant that includes clinical practice, didactic and/or clinical teaching, and experience in administration/management.
  • Strong personnel management skills with emphasis on development of instructional expertise, time management, problem solving, conflict management, cultural diversity, adaptability, and creativity.
  • Possess strong organizational skills.
  • Possess strong communication skills.
  • Experience in educational theory and methodology, instructional design, student evaluation and outcome assessment, including the equivalent of nine credits of coursework in educational foundations.
  • Possess the proven ability to function as a member of a team within established college, state, federal, and accrediting agency regulations, policies and procedures.
