On Point National Dance Competition is a New Jersey based company that produces amateur dance competitions for youth ages 4-18 across the country. Our company is currently assembling a team of talented, hard-working individuals to help us produce our live events and we would love for you to be part of our dynamic team! Selected team members will demonstrate strong organizational skills and be able to administer every detail of his or her duties so precisely and smoothly that everyone in attendance is only aware of the fun they are having!!
The Photographer is responsible for preserving lasting memories for On Point competitors. This position requires applicants shoot high quality action shots in low light, fast-paced conditions. Candidates must be able to confidently adjust shutter speeds, apertures, and ISO settings to capture crisp, well-lit images of subjects that are constantly moving. He/she must have a creative eye and be able to capture both wide angle and close up images as a routine performs. Past dance convention/competition experience is very beneficial but not necessary. The photography candidate must also have the physical stamina to endure long days standing while shooting. The position will also include a variety of other duties including setting up/breaking down each event.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and based in/near Detroit, MI, with the ability to travel from February through May. Several work weekends will include a Thursday departure and a Monday return. The Photographer will have a valid driver’s license and their own reliable transportation to On Point’s Detroit meet point.
Main Job Descriptions/Expectations:
- MUST have Canon experience – photographer will use On Point’s cameras and lenses
- MUST have computer experience – photographer will use On Point’s computers to store/categorize images
- Reliability and attention to detail is a MUST! – we cannot miss or “lose” routine photos
- Detail oriented and extremely organized
- Positive, can-do personality
- Well-groomed appearance
- Ability to work long hours in high-stress theatrical production environments
- Located within a reasonable driving distance of Detroit, MI
- May be responsible for driving company van, paid for by On Point
- Physically able to lift/lower equipment for load-in/load-out truck and for set-up/break-down at each event
- Past dance convention/competition experience is very helpful!
This position is a part-time, seasonal, 1099 contract. Please do not apply unless you are available all of the following weekends – including Thursdays and Mondays:

Weekly compensation is tiered based on length of each event. Event transportation, hotel accommodations and on-site meals also provided.
