Phoenix Police Marketing Intern (Part-Time)

Phoenix Police Department's Employment Services Bureau (ESB) is seeking a college intern. This internship opportunity is a paid opportunity to apply classroom learning to the real work place and develop valuable skills through the program. The intern will receive job shadowing and work experience in Marketing and Public Relations working with employees of Phoenix Police Department, City of Phoenix and creative agencies and vendors.
The Phoenix Police Department recently contracted with an advertising agency to support recruitment efforts. In partnership with the agency, ESB is focused on attracting the best candidates for both sworn and non-sworn positions. The intern will participate in projects, daily operations and interact with Police Department staff, projects may entail; copywriting, photography, website design/development, social media campaign marketing and other projects guided by the students interest.
The internship is scheduled for Spring 2024, with the possibility of an extension into the summer.
ESB office hours are Monday - Friday 6:00am - 3:00pm, with events in the evening and weekends. Interns can expect to work between 20-25 hours per week.
This position reports to the Marketing Supervisor.
This position may allow for some telework availability, but will require in-person meetings, filiming and other duties as required by the Marketing Supervisor.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is focused on one or more of the following: Marketing, Journalism, Broadcast Journalism and Public Relations. Having an interest in Public Safety and the First Responder community is preferred.
SALARY
$19.07 per hour.
BENEFITS
Part-time employees are eligible for earned paid sick time, city training, and free or discounted bus and light rail fares.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum age of 18 years.
• One year of professional work experience in a related field.
• This position may require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.
• Positions in the Police Department must meet the background standards that are appropriate to non-sworn positions. The general factors for disqualification are listed here .
• This position is subject to Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background standards. Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment must be fingerprint ed and will have their fingerprint s used to check the Criminal History Records of the State of Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Any records returned will be reviewed to determine the candidate's suitability for the job.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

• Experience in a fast-paced environment requiring superior project management abilities.
• Knowledge of media, multimedia, filming and editing programs capatible with iPhone and Android apps, camera and sound equipment.
