JOB SUMMARY:
This Phlebotomist position will work remotely in Northern Mississippi in the areas of Tupelo, Booneville, and Corinth. A Phlebotomist, or Certified Phlebotomist, is responsible for using their medical knowledge to take blood samples from patients. Duties include identifying and labeling blood samples, collect blood from patients, manage and dispose of needles and other medical equipment, and ensure that all blood collection procedures are conducted safely and hygienically. Additional responsibilities include collecting molecular specimens such as urine, tissue samples and swabs. Getting samples ready for laboratory and processing and transport the samples to the laboratory for testing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Draw and collect blood samples from patients, verifies records and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis.
- May prick finger to draw blood.
- Ensure that all analysis and preparation stages are documented properly.
- Label prepared specimens in accordance with the information provided in the initial file.
- Ensure proper storage of specimens in the storage area and prepare specimens for shipping.
- Timely shipping of specimens to the laboratory.
- Document and report any issues that may have arisen during the preparation process.
- Maintain a high level of workplace cleanliness in accordance with Company policy.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES: There are no supervisory duties associated with this position.
