The Phlebotomist is a member of the Laboratory Department team and assists the professional staff in collecting and processing blood samples and other specimens for inpatients and outpatients, and is under the supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor. The Phlebotomist is responsible for meeting and maintaining established medical and laboratory protocols. At a minimum, must perform established Washington Health System Core Phlebotomist Skills & Responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Accountable and responsible for collecting blood samples by vein and capillary puncture, collecting other specimens, and processing all samples for testing. This position will adhere to established standards, policies, and procedures of Washington Health System.
- Accurately reports information to members of the Laboratory Department team and other members of Washington Health System.
- Completes and demonstrates competency in all technical skills and patient care procedures as delegated according to established Washington Health System Core Phlebotomist Skills & Responsibilities.
Valid driver’s license required. No Tier D Violations
Successfully completes Color Blindness Test.
Completion of a Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant Training Program, certification as a Phlebotomist, OR a minimum of one (1) year experience as a phlebotomist in a healthcare, military, or hospital setting required.
Shift: Rotating day, afternoon and midnights. Rotating weekends and holidays.

Experience
Preferred- Completion of a Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant Training Program, certification as a Phlebotomist, OR a minimum of one (1) year experience as a phlebotomist in a healthcare, military, or hospital setting required.
Education
Required- High School/GED or better
- Diploma/Certificate or better in Phlebotomy or related field
