Phlebotomist, Certified Nurse Assistant
Location: Brattleboro, VT
Duration: 13 weeks
Description:
Core Competencies
- Demonstrates the ability to take and record vital signs (Wts., BP, tprs, I&O) and as assigned.
Interviews new and returning patients to determine general health status and outside providers and records in EHR
Demonstrates knowledge of specimen collection, storage and delivery criteria for toxicology testing.
Obtains release of information documentation as required.
Administers general health screening tools to new and existing patients.
Meets the standards for documentation and communication to communicate necessary information about patients to treatment team. This includes Patient/Staff incident reports; Hazard/Near Miss reports completed within 24 hours of incident.
Consistently addresses issues of self-disclosure according to program guidelines.
Maintains appropriate demeanor as a representative of the program and is a role model for the patients as evidenced by appearance, hygiene and behavior.
Is responsible for care of patients property.
Able to set limits and to follow through by teaching alternate behavior.
Ability to role model and orient new LNAs to the unit.
Demonstrates knowledge and skill of computer use.
Demonstrates strong organizational skills.
Exhibits essential working knowledge and assessment skills to recognize and report unusual symptoms and address special needs as they arise.
Department Specific Competencies
- Assists treatment team with admissions (including orientation of new pts to the program) and discharges as requested by Clinicians.
Demonstrates knowledge of substance dependence and recovery.
Supports the care of the environment by reporting issues to Facilities Management and following up to ensure resolution.
Answers the telephone, accurately relaying information and directing inquiries to appropriate staff.
Demonstrates clear, concise verbal and written communication in interactions with program staff, interdisciplinary team, and other hospital services.
Provides support to program physician(s), including transcription of discharge medication lists from the medical chart and coordinating patient appointments in other departments (ex. Medical Clinic).

High School diploma or equivalent
Current active Nursing Assistant licensure
LNA experience preferred
