Job Summary:
Obtains blood specimens and collects nonblood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs for laboratory testing. Performs screening tests and reports results. Processes specimens to prepare them for laboratory testing. Triage patients, give injections, take phone calls, call patients with test results.
Duties:
- Perform blood sampling
- Verify patient information and ensure accurate labeling of specimens
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of phlebotomy equipment and work area
- Follow laboratory procedures and protocols for specimen collection and handling
- Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures and addressing any concerns
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure proper specimen collection and delivery
- Adhere to safety guidelines and infection control protocols
- Handle difficult or challenging patients with empathy and professionalism
Skills:
- Proficient in phlebotomy techniques and procedures
- Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory techniques
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen collection and labeling
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to provide exceptional patient service and maintain patient confidentiality
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
