Organizational Summary
The Phase Alliance is an innovative collaboration between leading non-profits in the anti-sexual exploitation space (the Malouf Foundation, the Elizabeth Smart Foundation, and Fight the New Drug). The coming together of these three industry leaders increases efficiencies, improves synergies, and maximizes overall impact.
Position Summary
The CEO of the PHASE Alliance is responsible for the organization’s strategy and consistent achievement of its mission and program objectives. The Chief Executive Officer works collaboratively with the Board of Directors and directs the senior staff team to operationalize the mission and strategic plan of the organization. The CEO is responsible for providing inspirational leadership and direction to all key employees. The CEO ensures that the strategic direction of PHASE Alliance is reflective of its programs, partnerships, and impact. In partnership with the Board of Directors, the CEO works to build and expand the financial capacity of the organization through strategic marketing and donor/prospect outreach. The CEO will ensure that the organization’s fiscal, operations, fundraising, marketing, human resources, technology, and programmatic strategies are effectively implemented across all segments of the organization.
Responsibilities and Duties
In Strategy and Administration, the CEO will:
  • Assure that the organization has a long-range strategy which achieves its mission, and toward which it makes consistent and timely progress.
  • Report to the Board of Directors and act as a liaison between the Board and PHASE Alliance. Collaborate with the Board to engage in ongoing organizational growth and development.
  • Plan, organize, and direct the organization’s operations and programs through a strategic plan.
  • Develop needed protocol and procedures that will lay the foundation and framework to guide the internal workings of PHASE Alliance including program, organizational, and financial. Ensure all protocols and policies are being followed.
  • Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Provide guidance and strategic direction for all PHASE Alliance sub-entities.
  • Oversee and report on the organization’s results for the Board of Directors.
In Communications, the CEO will:
  • See that the Board of Directors is kept fully informed on the condition of the organization and all important factors influencing it.
  • Publicize the activities of the organization, its programs and goals.
  • Represent PHASE Alliance and participate, attend, and present in community, state, and national conferences, events, panel discussions, interviews, task forces and meetings to bring awareness to the organization’s programs impact, and to further the mission.
  • Engage in ongoing partnership development and establish sound working relationships with government agencies, non-profit organizations, and private businesses.
  • Assist in the cultivation of relationships with individuals, businesses, corporations, communities and foundations to encourage partnership and donations with PHASE Alliance.
In Staff Management, the CEO will:
  • Be responsible for the recruitment, employment, and release of all personnel.
  • Ensure that job descriptions are developed, that regular performance evaluations are held, and that sound human resource practices are in place.
  • Encourage staff development and education, and assist program staff in relating their specialized work to the total program of the organization.
  • Maintain a climate which attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse staff of top-quality professionals.
  • Instill a sense of accountability among team members by modeling tight oversight of individual and organization performance standards.

In Fiscal Management, the CEO will:
  • Maintain sound financial practices.
  • Work with the Board in preparing a budget; see that the organization operates within budget guidelines.
  • Ensure that PHASE Alliance functions in a fiscally responsible capacity, including creating an annual agency budget and overseeing the expenditures designated in the budget.
  • Oversee and implement PHASE Alliance fund development plan to include strategic fund planning, solicitations, grant searching and writing, implementation of fundraising, and partnerships for business and corporation donations.
  • Ensure that services and funding relationships are robust enough to meet or exceed strategic goals and objectives.
  • Prepare accurate and timely analyses that capture and communicate fundraising results, variances, and performance trends.
  • Develop and implement consistent inventory and cost accounting policies, procedures, and operational reporting/metrics.
  • Coordinate and leads annual budget reviews, monthly and quarterly reviews, and periodic forecast updates with operational and senior management for all locations.
Reports to
The CEO reports to the Board of Directors.
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following qualities and attributes:
  • At least ten years of senior-level management experience and a proven record in comprehensive fundraising and resource development, fiscal management, and strategic planning.
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree, preferably in a related field.
  • Must embody collaborative, goal-oriented leadership, with an approach that combines humility with decisive leadership.
  • Experienced and effective with external relations and communications with various audiences.
  • Extensive and high-level experience in the nonprofit sector, with experience supporting and partnering with a Board of Directors.
  • Exceptional fiscal leadership, strong business acumen, and fundraising expertise.
  • Ability to balance complex needs and strategy while also ensuring effective management of day-to-day details.
  • Highest standards of integrity, honesty, and ethical decision-making.
  • Aptitude for building a strong staff team, delegating, and fostering responsibility and accountability in others.
  • Demonstrated skill in thinking strategically and creatively, adept at creative problem-solving.
