CEO Chief Executive Officer Job Description: Top Duties and Qualifications
A Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for performing duties as the highest-ranking executive within a corporation to guide company practices and procedures. Their duties include overseeing company operations, communicating between board members and other company executives, and making important decisions that impact its brand identity and financial health.

The CEO is responsible for the overall vision, administration, and direction of Phoenix Holdings' employees, programs, strategy development, and fulfillment of its mission while fostering a positive organizational culture. As a non-voting Board member, the CEO regularly interacts with the Board of Directors, actively engaging them in governance and strategically deploying their strengths and interests in the highest support of the organization. The CEO is the main external face of the organization and is actively involved in sharing the Phoenix Holdings story externally and connecting with donors, partners, and other key stakeholders.

Key Competencies/Experience/Education:
  • A Bachelor's degree is the minimum required education.
  • A Master's degree in the Nonprofit field is preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years experience in management, people, and large projects.
  • Proficient knowledge and understanding of Nonprofit Management, Governance, Operations, Fiscal Management, and Fundraising.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Experience with Yardi preferred.
  • Experience with construction and/or property development preferred
CEO duties and responsibilities

As the highest-ranking executive in a company or organization, the Chief Executive Officer is primarily responsible for leading the company or organization and making significant decisions for the organization.

Other duties include:

  • Act as the figurative head of the organization when communicating with stockholders, government entities, and the general public.
  • Lead the development of the organization's long- and short-term strategies.
  • Manage overall operations and make major decisions affecting the organization.
  • Manage the organization's resources.
  • Negotiate or approve agreements and contracts for the organization.
