Under pharmacist supervision, independently performs tasks related to the filling of medication orders, maintains both manual and computer based records, prepares and compounds medications using appropriate technique, supplies controlled substances and maintains accurate records of disposition, maintains inventories in the pharmacy work areas; supplies medications and stock to assigned areas and appropriately bills for items supplied.
Education and Training
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Registration with State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy required
- Pharmacy Technician Certification required
- Completion of a BCI & FBI criminal records check required
Experience
- One year of Pharmacy Tech experience or completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician training program
Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications
- Ability to communicate verbally, in person and over the telephone, and in writing with patients, pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare personnel.
- Successful completion of basic pharmaceutical math calculation assessment.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer terminal, calculator, and other office equipment; manipulate fine instruments; and prepare pharmaceutical entities in minute proportions.
- Working knowledge of pharmacy law.
- Ability to read and transcribe required information from medication orders.
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time; pushes, pulls, carries, and lifts light to medium loads.
