Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician's primary function is to ensure drug inventory is adequate to meet the needs of day-to-day operations, confirm drug products and corresponding barcodes are entered into the formulary database for patient safety, and monitor and communicate drug shortages with appropriate staff.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have had prior experience as a pharmacy technician in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Preferred experience would include but not be limited to: unit dosing medications; delivery to and from nursing units; maintenance and refilling of automated dispensing cabinet; maintenance of drug storage areas; optimizing medication inventory par levels to avoid stockouts and reduce waste; collecting and receiving up-to-date medication histories; insurance billing; and processing prescriptions and refilling emergency kits. Prior experience with Cerner Millennium in regard to supply chain, medication delivery and optimization; experience with discharge medications in Cerner Retail Pharmacy; and/or experience with BD Pyxis for drug delivery, reports and storage is preferred. Experience with 340B and insurance billing including Medi-Cal, Medicare, and manage care plans is also preferred.

You may work with biohazards (i.e., medications and pharmaceutical sharps) and may be exposed to chemicals. You may be required to work in a locked down psychiatric facility.

- Filling inpatient and outpatient medication automated dispensing machines accurately and efficiently and preparing prescriptions
- Verifying the correct prescriptions are given to the appropriate patient at the point of medication delivery
