Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, assists in dispensing of medications, IV admixtures, and other pharmaceutical supplies. Performs computer functions, patient charges, credits, patient admit information, order entry and bed tags. Assists with inventory and control procedures. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support the Organization's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).
- Provides technical support by filling, processing, and delivering medication orders for unit dose dispensing under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Provides technical support for IV admixture service, using sterile technique. Also completes delivery and stocking.
- Performs function to assure accurate patient demographics, patient charging, and take-home prescription processing.
- Assures appropriate inventory, prepackaging procedures, and appropriate drug storage according to department policy and California State Board of Pharmacy Law.
- Demonstrates initiative and effective utilization of time and resources to promote the efficient operation of the department, and accountability for professional, ethical and legal standards.
- Maintains good attendance and adherence to work schedule
- Adheres to all hospital and departmental polices and procedures.
- Maintains positive communications and interpersonal relationships with department, hospital staff, vendors and physicians.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum of one year experience working as a Pharmacy Technician is preferred.
Education:
- Completion of formal technician training program.
Licensure:
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of CA.
- BLS- American Heart Association
Special Skills:
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Able to type 30 wpm Ability to file.
- Able to perform mathematical calculations.
- Able to work on a team Able to prioritize workload.
- Use of a computer terminal.
- Able to read work product of others computer/monitor screens and computer printouts.
- Exhibit high level of concentration and attention to detail.
Pay Range
$25.13 - $29.42 /hour
