Job description

The outpatient Pharmacy Support person is responsible for nontechnical duties assigned by a supervising pharmacist including, but not limited to, delivery of medications/goods, performing routine errands within the building(s), clerical duties, processing wholesale drug orders, receiving requests by phone or in person, performing drug inventory duties, assisting in the cleaning of the work area, and restocking and ordering of supplies.

 

Foremost among the responsibilities is the delivering of parcels and goods to patients through accurate and efficient shipment, transport, receipt and distribution.

Delivery of Medical Supplies

· Transports incoming and outgoing parcels, mail, supplies, medications and goods to locations inside and outside of UnityPoint Health.

· Ensures items transported are properly labeled and packaged prior to transport to ensure safety of driver and goods.

· Uses logs and to confirm time of delivery and/or receipt of goods transported.

· Maintains order and cleanliness in all areas worked.

· Participates on teams to enhance team member satisfaction, analyze workflow and work toward continued efficiency improvements.

· Works closely with others to ensure supplies are available timely in the correct location.

Pharmacy Support

· Assists pharmacy team as needed. This can include stocking supplies in inventory or customer areas, assisting at the drive-up window and other support person duties.

Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent

 

Experience:

 

 

 

 

Proven history of identifying issues and conflicts and working proactively toward resolution.

 

Knowledge of supply chain practices, medical supplies, storage, and supply distribution.

License(s)/Certification(s):

 

 

 

 

Valid Iowa driver’s license for at least three years with an acceptable or clear rating according to the Motor Vehicle Record chart. (see below)

Must have a minimum of 2 years driving experience with no record of DUI, DWI, or similar alcohol or drug related offenses over the past 5 years.

In addition there will be no record of reckless driving, careless driving, speeding over 15 miles above the speed limit, fleeing or eluding a police officer, chemical test refusal, leaving the scene of an accident, driving after revocation or suspension, or passing a stopped school bus in the last 5 years.

Able to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles.

 

Registered as a support person with the Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire.

· Must be able to work safely with minimal supervision and assume timely completion of duties.

· Performs basic math calculations.
