Position assists pharmacists with daily pharmacy operations in a supportive role, under the pharmacists' direct supervision.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists with accurate preparation, labeling and dispensing of patient medications; includes with timely delivery of medications to nursing staff and patients.
- Prepares and compounds parenteral products, including cytotoxic compounds using proper aseptic technique, ensuring continuous quality control during preparation of admixtures; performs required calculations and verification of doses.
- Monitors inventory for expired medications; replenishes stock when drug inventory is low.
- Assists with Quality Assurance programs, including but not limited to temperature monitoring of pharmacy refrigerators and freezers, IV hood cleaning, filling Nucleus floor stock and checking for expired medications.
- Participates in pharmacy continuing medical education programs, seminars and all required training to maintain job status and/or pharmacy licensure.
- Answers telephone, assists customers at pharmacy counter/door and assists pharmacists with any requested pharmacy duties; assists with keeping pharmacy neat, clean and orderly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Missouri Pharmacy Intern Registration desired.
- One of more years of experience in pharmacy operations or completion of one year of pharmacy school.
- Basic computer skills, including typing, basic pharmacy skills (including pharmaceutical math calculations).
- Ability to understand and follow complex written or verbal instructions.
- Requires effective verbal and written communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.
- Currently enrolled full time and in good academic standing in an accredited School of Pharmacy (enrolled in Pre-Professional curriculum).
- Current registration in State of Missouri (or Illinois if applicable) as Pharmacy Technician (or Pharmacy Intern, if applicable). Basic Life Support certification. (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements.).

Salary Range
$18.84 - $28.29 / Hourly
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
