```Duties```
Customer Service: Greeting customers, assisting them with their inquiries, and providing information on products and services.
Cash Handling: Managing cash transactions, processing payments for prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and other health-related products. This involves handling cash, credit/debit cards, and ensuring accuracy in transactions.
Prescription Processing: Taking in prescription orders, verifying patient information, and processing prescription orders accurately. This may involve inputting information into a computer system.
Insurance Verification: Checking and verifying insurance information for prescription coverage. This includes ensuring that the patient's insurance information is accurate and up-to-date.
Stock Management: Assisting in managing the inventory of over-the-counter medications and other products. This may involve restocking shelves, monitoring expiration dates, and alerting pharmacists to any shortages.
Answering Phones: Handling incoming phone calls, taking messages, and directing calls to the appropriate staff members. This also includes answering customer inquiries about medications and services.
Maintaining Cleanliness: Keeping the cashier area and surrounding areas clean and organized. This ensures a safe and pleasant environment for both staff and customers.
Compliance with Regulations: Adhering to pharmacy regulations and policies, including patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance) and handling controlled substances according to legal guidelines.
Refunds and Returns: Processing refunds or returns of medications or other products, following established procedures and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Promotions and Sales: Informing customers about promotions, discounts, and loyalty programs. Encouraging customers to participate in pharmacy programs that may benefit them.
Assisting Pharmacists: Supporting pharmacists and other pharmacy staff as needed. This may involve tasks such as filing, organizing paperwork, and other administrative duties.
Overall, Pharmacy Cashiers play a crucial role in providing excellent customer service, ensuring accurate and secure transactions, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the pharmacy. Their responsibilities may vary slightly depending on the size and type of the pharmacy.
```Experience```
- Previous experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred but not required
- Familiarity with aseptic technique and critical care pharmacy is a plus
- Knowledge of medication administration, including inhalation and IV infusion, is beneficial
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in prescription processing
- Excellent communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionals
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism
