To qualify for the GS-07 grade level, applicants must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: Performing inspections of all phases of oil and gas drilling and production operations; documenting problems and determining corrective action. Inspecting plugging and abandonment operations for abandonment of wells; Preparing reports and documenting on all inspections, witnessing, and/or compliance. Note: Your resume must indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you may be found ineligible.

Education: Successful completion of 1 full year (18 semester hours) of graduate level education leading to a Master's degree or a Master's degree in engineering, construction, or industrial technology. NOTE: You must submit copies of your college transcripts.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

- Certification. Engineering technicians may be certified by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies, an organization sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers.
