Job Description
The Pet Groomer?s responsibilities include grooming (trimming, clipping, shaving, brushing, and removing matted hair) and bathing animals whenever it is required and necessary. Groomers are expected to groom all pets of varying sizes, weights, temperaments, and breeds. Cat grooming is expected unless there is a specific medical condition limiting your ability to groom a cat (Please let your manager know if this applies to you). It is expected that your grooming tools and equipment are in good working condition and will be cleaned and sterilized between grooms. Speak to the management team if you need your tools sharpened which is paid for by Lucky Paws.
We require the owner's pets to be vaccinated. Groomers should take proper safety precautions to minimize the risk of bites and scratches.
Lucky Paws Pet Groomers are expected to make every effort to understand and accommodate the pet owners' instructions and any special requests that they may have. We expect our Pet Groomers to treat all animals with the utmost love and care.
Pet Groomer Daily Responsibilities:
Arrive on time (10 min prior to the start of your shift)
Check in and out all pets on your schedule (including first and last pets of the day)
Learn the scheduling software so you will be able to check in and check out pets and collect payments
Learn how to process payments using credit card terminal
Grooming and styling pets according to the pet owners? instructions and accommodating special instructions within reason and as long as it is comfortable for the pet.
Be able to groom the breed standard haircut for each purebred dog. Inform your manager if there are breeds you are still learning and would like assistance with grooming.
Groom on average 8 dogs per day, depending upon the breeds, when assisted by a bather.

De-matting and detangling hair as required. It is expected that pets may come in tangled and/or matted. Lucky Paws considers a brushout and in some cases dematting, to be a part of a normal groom if it is limited to no more than 10 minutes. No additional charge or compensation is needed if it is limited to 10 minutes of grooming. Additional charges and compensation will begin after the first 10 minutes.
Bathing pets if no bather is present or if it is deemed necessary to keep the schedule of grooms to be completed in a timely manner.
Drying pets if necessary to keep the schedule completed in a timely manner. .
Brushing teeth, expressing anal glands, trimming nails, and cleaning ears
Identifying health issues in pets, such as ear infections, skin conditions, nicks, or cuts, parasites, tooth decay, any physical discomfort, and informing pet owners of these observations.
Ensuring that all pets are safe during the grooming and bathing process.
Keep a positive friendly attitude toward customers and fellow employees
Ensuring company policies are being followed as given to you in the employee handbook
Communicating effectively with clients about their pets needs and recommend suitable products and services to pet owners.
Maintaining a clean work area. It is expected after your shift ends you will clean your station including a sweep and mop around your table and wipe down shelves and table top. If no bather is present, the cages and tubs will be included in the daily cleaning.
Reporting any accidental nicks, cuts, bleeding to a manager as soon as it happens and make sure the customer is aware as well.
Enter clear grooming notes so records are available for the next time the pet is scheduled.
