POSITION TITLE:Personal Trainer
DIVISION: Recreation & Facilities
REPORTS TO: Recreation Services Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt - $27.00 (Part-Time)
Purpose of Position:
The purpose of the Personal Trainer position is to provide safe and effective individual and small group fitness training for guests through supervision, education, and a focus on establishing an exercise plan to meet the goals of the participant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Works with clients who wish to improve their overall fitness, health, and wellness.
- Designs fitness plans, offer nutritional advice, and provides motivation to clients.
- Structures sessions to meet National Standards and recommendations while taking into consideration the abilities and goals of the clients.
- Demonstrates correct use of applicable fitness equipment.
- Enthusiastically greets clients while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Uses excellent customer service skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and all members of the general public.
- Behaves as a role model by leading and promoting wellness.
- Enforces applicable rules and regulations with clients and facility users.
- Responds to public inquiries, suggestions and complaints. Informs management as necessary.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
- Reliable attendance and timeliness to scheduled shifts.
- Attends meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:
- Ability to work a varied schedule including days, evenings, and weekends.
- Ability to positively adhere to and enforce Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation policy and procedures; implement emergency plans.
- Ability to positively promote the image of Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to give and understand oral and written instructions.
- Physical requirements include: lifting, kneeling, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping.
Qualifications Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:
- Personal Training certification required from Nationally-Recognized Fitness Organization.
- More than one year of personal training experience preferred.
- Bachelor of Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Anatomy or related field preferred.
- American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Certification within 60 days of hire.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must Complete Prior to Starting with Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation
- Must pass a background check that encompasses national, state and local searches.
