POSITIONS IN CHARLES COUNTY AND PRINCE GEORGES COUNTY!!!!!!!
The Personal Support Staff (Direct Support Professional) will support one or more people living in their own home or their family’s home. The Personal Support Staff is responsible for supporting person(s) with intellectual and developmental disabilities, by facilitating and promoting independence, self-advocacy, and decision making. The Personal Support Staff will support a person’s life choices and facilitate opportunities to build relationships.
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, such as a GED.
• Have a valid Maryland Driver’s License with 2 or fewer points and no Provisionals.
• Have a personal vehicle which will be used to transport those you support in the community.
• Pass a pre-employment background check.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance.
• Must complete all required DDA training, CPR/FA.
• Prior experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred.
Essential Functions
• Assist people we support to maximize their independence and personal growth while making individual choices based on their Person-Centered Plan. Ensure goals are developed, implemented and progress benchmarks are being met and documented daily/per shift.
• Provide support with daily living activities at home and in the community, such as meal preparation, personal care, and the maintenance of a clean and healthy living environment.
• Monitor and report any concerns regarding an individual’s living conditions; ensure Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) and OHCQ regulations are met for all home environments and report to supervisor any finding immediately.
• Other duties as assigned.
