Legacy Home Care is seeking ONE highly qualified individual to support a caseload of veterans in the Waterford/Union City area. This individual should have experience with a variety of levels of care and should be comfortable with providing personal care, hygiene, and home support services. Interested candidates should meet the following criteria:
- Possesses exceptional character and work ethic.
- Has 2 or more years of caregiving experience with an agency (must be verifiable).
- Has experience providing for a variety of care needs, including bathing, dressing, mechanical lifts (Hoyer, SARA), meal preparation, light housekeeping, catheter and ostomy care (cleaning/emptying only), medication reminders, etc.
- Has organizational and planning skills.
- Displays genuine compassion, patience and a nurturing personality.
- Possesses excellent communication and active listening skills.
- Is willing to work within a 20 mile radius of his/her base location.
Additionally, applicants must have the following:
- A minimum of 2 professional and 2 personal references.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Reliable vehicle that is inspected, insured and registered.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Clear background checks.
The individual selected for this role will be responsible for providing for the needs of elderly and disabled individuals who wish to remain in their own home. These duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist with personal care, including bathing, dressing, nail care, hair care, oral care, catheter care (cleaning/emptying only), ostomy care (cleaning/emptying only), compression stocking application, Hoyer lift transfers, Sit-to-Stand lift transfers, bed bathing, linen changes, etc.
- Assist with home support tasks, such as light housekeeping, organization, dishes, cooking, baking, etc.
- Coordinate with other members of the client’s family and care team to assure his/her ability to continue living in their own home.
- Foster meaningful connections with clients, becoming a trusted companion.
- Accompany clients to appointments, outings, and social activities.
- Listen, empathize and offer emotional support when needed.
- Document and report client’s progress.
The individual in this role will be competitively compensated and will receive the following benefits:
- $16.00 per hour after training period. ($13.50 per hour for the first 30 days, $14.50 per hour for days 30-60, $16 per hour from day 60 forward. Must maintain exemplary performance and attendance during each phase in order to move on. Must complete all required training sessions in each phase in order to move on.
