Job description

Fusion Health is seeking a bright, motivated, and outgoing QA Engineer / Performance Test Engineer to join our Engineering team at our Topeka, KS office location! This candidate will participate in dynamic and challenging projects to optimize the performance of applications, evaluate design, and work together with developers and testers to deliver robust applications. This role looks like...


The QA Engineering team is vital to our organization’s mission and growth. This role will provide assistance with a multitude of projects that will enhance the team’s success. We are seeking an experienced Performance Test Engineer who can optimize the performance of applications, evaluate design, and work together with developers and testers to deliver robust applications. Reporting to the Head of QA Engineering, this role will assist with a multitude of projects of varying complexity. We are looking for a candidate who will utilize their analytical, communication, and teamwork skills to enhance the department’s efficacy. The ideal candidate will be able to jump in and identify areas where software quality can be greatly improved.


The QA Performance Engineer will be responsible for applying his/her expertise to develop and execute Performance Test plans, Performance Test execution, and reporting of issues for all technical applications and systems before deployment, ensuring they are performing according to specifications and free of errors. This includes:


  • Use JMeter/LoadRunner to perform load and Performance Testing on web and mobile applications.
  • Design, script and execute load, stress, and scalability testing and deliver comprehensive reports to the project team.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of performance issues, including hardware and software bottlenecks and providing updates to a wide spectrum of audiences
  • Participate with QA organization on automated functional testing using tools such as Cypress, Postman, etc.
  • Collaborate with the QA organization on performance related test cases to execute. Provide necessary data to QA peers for bug entry.
  • Report issues discovered during performance evaluation and work closely with the engineering team to analyze the issues and track them to resolution.
  • Mentor Mid and Junior QA Automation Engineers on Performance Testing best practices.
  • Work with QA Leadership in Performance Testing Strategies and Planning.
  • Review design documents, use cases, infrastructure implementations, and code to identify potential performance bottlenecks and defects.
  • Prepare load simulators, monitoring tools, and other automation to sustainably test the products against specifications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of Performance Test simulations and/or experience in performance analysis, web-based enterprise applications.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and using Performance Testing tools such as JMeter/LoadRunner, and performance monitoring tools such as New Relic or Grafana.
  • Experience in designing test scenarios and load profiles based on application functionality and usage patterns.
  • Knowledge of load testing and Performance Testing concepts and methods as applied in a C#.NET application environment.
  • Proficient in one or more programming or scripting languages.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure components (servers, network, load balancers, switches, firewalls, etc.) and cloud-based hosting environments.
  • Knowledge of multiple middleware and data store technologies, such as message queues, relational databases, caches, stream processing, batch processing.
  • Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong understanding of automating performance or other testing through a CI/CD pipeline.
  • Exposure to the full product development cycle – from requirements through post-release.
  • Experience with REST API design and testing.
  • Exceptional work ethic, team spirit, and passion for your craft.
  • Ability and motivation to constantly improve and stay up to date on industry .knowledge, trends, and processes
  • Self-motivator can work independently, learn quickly, meet deadlines, and demonstrate problem-solving skills
  • Experience/exposure to Agile/SCRUM
  • Experience using Issue & Project Tracking Software (JIRA)
  • Performance tuning experience with RDBMS is desirable
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, and debugging skills
  • Experience with Java, C#, SQL, Angular, HTML, TypeScript, and ASP.NET Core
  • Health Care Application/Data Design knowledge
  • Ability to work with vendors to investigate issues, troubleshoot, and triage bugs
  • Ability to communicate thoughtfully and effectively, leveraging problem-solving skills and a learning mindset to build long-term relationships

Additional Details:


  • This is an on-site (hybrid), full-time, salaried position at our Topeka, KS office location. Our normal hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CT.
