Position Summary
Serve as a resource for improving operational processes and access to clinical care. Ideal candidate will be trained in process improvement methodologies and will have experience in the physician practice setting. Responsible for working collaboratively with clinical departments in defining access improvement projects, conducting data analysis, facilitating work-groups, and monitoring, tracking and reporting results that focus on in improved access to the clinical practice.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists clinical departments in identification of the process or operational area requiring redesign or improvement, develops project scope, charter and workplan, facilitates meetings to accomplish the identified tasks and documents project outputs.
- Leads project teams in conducting Performance Improvement and process redesign projects using appropriate analytic and facilitation techniques as the situation requires.
- Measures current organizational and process performance using a variety of qualitative and quantitative techniques including one-on-one user interviews, user workshops, surveys, observational studies and statistical analysis.
- Develops process maps of existing and future state processes using appropriate techniques and software.
- Structures and conducts best practice research, process analyses, benchmarking and performance baseline measurement activities.
- Improves the process using sophisticated methods such as design of pilots, FMEA, re-engineering, Six Sigma and Lean techniques.
- Develops models that analyze the financial and operational impact of proposed Performance Improvement initiatives.
- Utilizes key business skills to guide project leadership and team members in achieving the stated business objectives.
- Possesses a strong understanding of the change management issues associated with large scale change and provides solutions to manage change.
- Uses strong oral and written communications skills to effectively convey project
- progress and results to working groups and executive steering committees.
- Applies strong group and process facilitation skills in leading groups and individuals in challenging the status quo.
- Brings a strong understanding of the fundamental drivers of physician practice business performance to the table during project planning and execution.
- Provides consultation to clinical departments regarding performance/process improvement approaches and tools.
- Supplies knowledge of tools and trends from the healthcare quality industry and facilitates access to information and outside resources regarding implementation of six sigma methodologies.
- In cooperation with the Division Chief, Chair of the Quality & Safety Committee, Co-Chairs of the Patient Care Operations, Vice-Chief for Clinical Efficiency and Administrator provides support for hospitalists and clinical teams utilizing Lean methodologies.
- Spends majority of time on Performance Improvement/transformation projects and may spend a small portion of time filling other roles within the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in Performance Improvement, quality, or management engineering.
- Strong data analysis, facilitation, organizational and communication skills.
- Experience in physician office practice setting a plus.
- Minimum Yellow Belt certified in Six Sigma.
- Customer focus and service quality orientation is essential.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree or a minimum of five years of experience in a clinical setting.

Salary Range
$82,500.00 - $145,200.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
