Summary Description: This position is responsible for partnering with the Chief People Officer (CPO) and CPO’s direct reports in creating, defining, and communicating departmental strategic objectives and priorities, along with aligning focus through collaboration with other company leaders. This position helps builds department capacity, reinforces desired outcomes through engagement and follow-up, and is responsible for strategic and financial planning, developing meeting content, creating board-related presentations, and for inter-department project management.
Responsibilities:
  • Works with CPO, leaders on the People Team, and other stakeholders in support of developing and implementing plans to achieve strategic goals and initiatives. Supports the success of initiatives through communication and collaboration across the organization.
  • Responsible for calendar management for the CPO and CPO’s direct reports, along with planning department meetings, events, and other administrative obligations.
  • Organizes department planning, including assisting with responsibilities associated with hiring, promoting, back-filling and onboarding positions within the department.
  • Accountable and responsible for timely and accurate flow of information.
  • Develops and maintains reports, and prioritizes work initiatives, deliverables, and data output priorities to be utilized in presentations and other communication vehicles to the business.
  • Develops communication content as needed for department and provides recommendations on topics to present for discussion during leadership and key stakeholder meetings.
  • Provides support for weekly/monthly meetings as needed, including taking meeting notes, conducting research on action items, and making recommendations on issues where decisions are needed.
  • Facilitates cross functional content, organization output and preparations for business meetings to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Escalates issues requiring corresponding action plans or further review.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality and discretion due to exposure to high-level communications, projects and company information, budget, and salaries.
  • Oversees all people and financial-related aspects of the planning cycles and ongoing review of budget variances.
  • Partners with CPO to build and maintain positive awareness and delivery of department priorities.
  • Prepares and disseminates communications for the CPO to build and nurture strong partnerships across all business units and functional business leaders.
  • Manages assigned special projects for Human Resources, and Department leadership.
  • Accountable and responsible for timely and accurate flow of information to and from the department and the business.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required

Experience:
  • 6+ years’ experience preferably in restaurant industry
Knowledge, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and Visio (as applicable)
  • Proficiency in JD Edwards (as applicable)
  • Ability to communicate, influence, and negotiate decisions while motivating assigned staff
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Working Conditions/Travel Requirements:
  • Expected to work the necessary time to satisfactorily fulfill job responsibilities
  • Must be able to report to work timely and as required by operational/business need
  • Must be able to work a full-time schedule and work outside of normal business hours when necessary
  • Some travel, both locally and long distances, (including air travel), to worksites, meeting sites, and other locations may be necessary
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, submit to releasing a Motor Vehicle Record that adheres to the Whataburger standards and maintain current automobile liability at minimum levels in their state of residence
